INTRODUCING… LA ROUX
Synth-loving, Brixtonian electronic double act La Roux are on a mission to bring back the 80’s. Influenced by the sounds and styles of acts such as The Eurythmics, Gary Numan and Heaven 17, La Roux’s fiery haired singer Elly Jackson is determined to steer the band away from the current breed of contrived pop acts. Their 80’s influences are seen through their outlandish outfits and videos, in which Jackson is seen sipping cocktails in front of a superimposed Caribbean sunset and for new single ‘In for the Kill’ released on Polydor on March 16, seen riding in a Knight Rider style car, clad all in leather. La Roux’s debut single ‘Quicksand’ was released in November of last year on independent French label Kitsuné Music and they were voted in the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2009’ poll and were one of the Guardian’s ‘Best New Acts of 2009’.
They are set to support Lily Allen on her upcoming UK tour.
